The Society for Clinical Dental Technology exists to facilitate the professional development of Dental Technicians by getting clinical training and becoming Clinical Dental Technologists (Denturists). If  the concept is new to you, click on What is Denturism? The Society is spearheading this process to achieve formal recognition of this Oral Health category, in the interests of our members and the communities they serve. Our goal is for denture manufacturers to provide quality products and prompt accountable service at a realistic economical fee, directly to the consumer. Denture wearers should have the freedom to choose for themselves whose services they would prefer to provide their dentures. Denturists should have the freedom to practice their profession anywhere they choose, including this wonderful country of ours. Scroll down to the bottom of this page for more information about South Africa

Whether you are a present or future denture wearer, or interested in becoming a Denturist, we hope you find this web site a valuable resource. With time we aim to facilitate much relevant news regarding past, present and future development and scientific research of this relatively young evolving profession of Denturism, as it gradually spreads around the globe. Throughout this web site you will find information of value to the current or future denture wearer. Come on a tour of our Sitemap to see what information we have gathered for you to browse at leisure. An additional Alphabetical Index was created for your convenience. Simply scroll down to the subject of your enquiry, and click to open the related text on the website. Open the Menu-bar on the left of all pages (except the Homepage) or use the  Navigation  buttons at the bottom of all pages to move on, to another page/chapter. Throughout this website, all (teal) coloured text and buttons are linked to the related files, for your convenience.

In the past, conventional methods of communication have been used to convey information. With this Website we intend to inform our members, fellow dental technicians, other members of the Oral Health Team, Professional Associations, Statutory Health Authorities, the media, the public, Educational Institutions and Government of our motivations, professional services, products and up to date information as it becomes available. If you are considering Denturism as a profession for yourself, you can find more information about The Society, by visiting the About Us page.  The Society is the organization that aspires to get Denturism established in South Africa, working to ensure that member Denturists are appropriately trained and that the profession get established as a vital health care option for consumers. Join us as we make this a reality. You may Contact Us with your enquiries. Strengthen our cause by joining our ranks in the Members domain. Denturism is about a health service by a new professional category, and therefore the bulk of information on this website is divided under either Professional Interest  or Public Interest .

Browse Professional Interest to expand your knowledge of the profession and of this site. You may find much useful information related to the essence of the practice of denturism, the denture monopoly and other health care realities and perceptions in South Africa, and some indication of our Campaign. This site has been designed especially to provide information, to raise public awareness of the denturist profession and to improve interaction between all stakeholders and professional organs in Oral Health Care.  Visit the site often to keep abreast with information about international developments in the profession and advancements in our campaign to establish the category locally as a recognized independent professional member of the Oral Health Team. It will be appreciated if you could kindly forward this site address to your colleagues and professional associates.  On the Useful Links page you will be directed to the Websites of other denturist-related organizations across the Globe. For your convenience we have provided numerous links to relevant Websites of interest that might both broaden your insight and provide access to the experts, both globally and locally, other stakeholders, dental traders, equipment and dental materials.

In the Public Interest chapter you will find an overview of all the different Oral Health Professionals to explain their training, responsibility fields and professional expertise and how their services could be improved through expanded services. Denturist services are focused on and an overview of international practice provided.  A Perspective is given of various aspects that impact on consumer's denture experience, including function, aesthetics, fees and choices. View a slideshow about Making dentures and learn how to correctly care for a denture to ensure that it serves you long and well. You can also get answers to some of the most common questions that people ask about dentures on Frequently Asked Questions. We anticipate that there may be information, which may be viewed, as interesting and newsworthy. At other times, some stakeholders might view some information as controversial or contentious (often due to customary doctrine).

Any visitor to this website is encouraged to contact us with any questions, queries or comments that may arise. We regard this interaction as very important. In the Profile Stories you can soon read Jannie's story  and  Aggie's story  to appreciate the impact of having dentures on their personalities and quality of life. Read about fellow denture wearers' experiences in the Consumer Testimonials and assist us to provide a better service to you, by participating in the Denture Wearers' Petition Please contact us if you have questions about our profession or share your comments about this web site or of Denturism, on our Visitor's Comments, so that we can serve you better!
